How can I make an appointment to speak with the school counselor?

The best way to get in touch with us is either e-mail or calling our direct lines. Our voicemail is confidential so you may leave a detailed message. You may also reach out to your child’s teacher and let them know you would like us to reach out to you.

The counseling team works collaboratively with students in Grades K-4 to deliver a comprehensive school counseling program.

At Phelps, we  have the joy of working with students through classroom lessons, small group and individual counseling sessions, PBIS events, outside at recess, lunch, and much more.  We collaborate with parents, school staff, and outside providers in order to best meet the needs of all students.

Classroom Lessons

We visit each classroom multiple times throughout the school year and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons.  Lessons typically last around 30 minutes in length and cover topics such as self esteem, kindness, empathy, gratitude, identifying and understanding feelings of self and others, problem solving skills, and much more.

Small Group Counseling

A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing social or emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are coping with similar situations.  Groups are formed in a variety of ways, based off of data collected from teachers, formal and informal observations, and parent concern.

Individual Counseling

Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding social or emotional support.
