Congratulations to this year's Citizenship in Education Teacher’s Award recipient, Kathleen Jediny of the Roberta Doering Middle School in Agawam.

Mrs. Jediny continuously instills civic pride into her lesson plans with projects for her students such as making cards for the Soldiers Home In Holyoke.

Instilling patriotic and civic pride into her students is a key component to their development as good citizens.

Mrs. Jediny not only won the award at the local level, but she also won first place at the District level which consists of the wider contest between Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties. She will receive her District award during the District awards ceremony in Hampden on February 27.

Big salute Mrs. Jediny!
