Our Mission

Counselors work together in partnership with the community to promote the development of each student's academic, social/emotional, and career potential.  Through a comprehensive counseling program, counselors assist all students in realizing their abilities, interests and goals as they transition through the educational process to become successful members of society & life-long learners.

We are aligned with the Massachusetts Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.  It is a comprehensive preventative program based on the developmental needs of students.  Every student benefits from the program and is an integral part of the total educational program for student success.

Our Goal

Our goal is to assist all students in achieving success in school and beyond.  Our role covers classroom guidance lessons, individual student planning, and short-term individual and group counseling.

Our Role

Help students resolve problems that interfere with learning.

Conduct classroom guidance lessons on such topics as how to be a successful student, organization, career exploration and decision making.

Consult with teachers, administration, parents, and community resources to encourage students' academic and social/emotional success.

Provide short-term individual or group counseling for issues that impede student's school success.

During the week of September 24–28th, 2018, hundreds of schools and youth organizations across the United States will participate in Start With Hello Week and teach students, grades 2–12, the skills they need to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness, and encourage them to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation. Start With Hello Week raises awareness about social isolation and educates students and the community on how to prevent it.  School Counselors at the Doering School will be working with all students to help raise awareness during this week.
