On August 5, 2026, the Governor signed the PROTECT Act into law. As part of the legislation and the guidance issued by DESE on August 21, 2026, districts are required to adopt a policy and develop companion procedures to align with the new law. The draft policy for Agawam, procedures for Agawam Public Schools, and the Guidance from DESE are posted here. The policy is scheduled to be voted on by the School Committee at the September 29, 2026 meeting.
