AGAWAM JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
HOME-SCHOOL LEARNING COMPACT 2025-26
HOME & SCHOOL: WORKING TOGETHER FOR STUDENT SUCCESS
Public Law 103-382:
“The Improving America’s Schools Act, Shared Responsibilities for High Student Performance”: “...each school served under this part shall jointly develop with parents for all children served under this part a school-parent compact that outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the State’s high standards.”
Dear Agawam Junior High Family,
A child’s education is a process which requires the active participation of the student, his/her family and the school community. A Home School Learning Compact is a written agreement between the school, parents and student which defines each of our responsibilities and the actions we will take to help our children succeed at school. Compacts are required for schools receiving Title 1 funds.
Reviewing this compact with your student signifies your willingness to be an active participant in your child’s education. We recognize that many parents already understand and more than fulfill these responsibilities.
Thank you for your consideration of this compact.
Sincerely,
Norman C. Robbins
Principal
YOUR INVOLVEMENT IS IMPORTANT
Research has proven that family involvement in education is an important indicator of children’s academic success. We know that you are busy, but the time you spend helping your child to be a better student is one of the most important investments you can make. Your child is more likely to succeed if you:
• Get to know your child’s teachers.
• Help your child study at home.
• Attend school activities when you can.
• Show your child that school is important.
WHAT IS TITLE 1?
Title I is a federal aid program for schools. The goal of Title 1 is to ensure a high-quality education for every child, by providing extra help to students who need it most. This means that in addition to small group instruction, Title 1 funds may also be used to address overall school improvement. Therefore, all of our students are considered Title 1 students.
For more information on the Title 1 Program, or if you have questions, comments or suggestions about this Learning Compact, please contact us.
