flag with words Elks Americanism Essay Contest

Each year, Elks USA offers an essay contest for students in grades 5-8 regarding some aspect of Americanism.  This year the theme is, "Explain a Constitutional Right or Privilege and How It Affects You and Your Family."

Over the past few years, we have been very proud to have a number of students in our area win the state level competition and go on to be judged at a national level.  We hope that you will share this program with your teachers so that they may encourage their students to participate.  If your teachers are not participating (hopefully they will), but you email notices and fliers to parents, please include this information as well.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a dedicated, patriotic organization and actively supports and promotes Americanism, which we feel begins with our youth.  Thanks to educators like you, this program has grown exponentially in the past few years, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation and partnership.  If there are any questions regarding this program, please reach out to me.

Thank you

Patricia O'Connor, Americanism Chair

Westfield-West Springfield Lodge of Elks #1481
